Makimi is a village with a population of about 530 people located on the coast of Nabire bay. Ethnically and linguistically they are of Melanesian descent.

Fishing, Sago farming & processing, farming.

Road connecting to the main town.

GEG Intervention

Multiple capacity building training (GAP, Business, Management).
Distributed sago pulp shredding machines.

Year started

2018.

Government collaboration

Government is supportive and communicative with GEG. However, the GEG intervention is small in scope and thus has received support only as needed.

Achievement until 2020

Two previously dormant producer groups have become active.
